Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a health care profession that provides services to individuals and groups in order to develop, maintain, and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout life. This includes providing services in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors.

An important part of the treatment is practice therapy, which is meant to influence the possibilities for moving the joints and to increase muscle strength. You learn to move in a healthy manner that prevents or diminishes new problems.

How to get to a physiotherapist?

Go to your GP and explain what the problem is, he/she may refer you to a physiotherapist. The physiotherapist will discuss your treatment plan with you. More information on physiotherapists and other paramedical care can be found in the Yellow Pages.
