When you are relocating to another country, it is possible to call in the help of a relocation agency. There are relocation agencies in the Netherlands, but not as many as abroad.
The employer normally hires the relocation agency, but sometimes the employee does. The offers and services may differ, so it is smart to make a list of all the things you would like to have arranged for you before you start searching for the proper relocation agency.
What to expect from a relocation agency:
Housing
Help with buying or renting a house, including gas, water and electricity providers, arrange a city tour, rent or buy furniture, provide information about the area (where to find supermarkets, and other daily needed places), make sure the fridge is filled on the day of arrival. Find you a cleaning lady and/or other house-related services.
Moving
Pick you up from the airport, offer assistance with customs and tax exemption papers, provide mediation with removal companies, and give information about rules and regulations with respect to taking animals into the Netherlands.
Formalities
Arrange the proper visa and documents. Take care of the 30 % ruling apply for your citizen service number (BSN number), set up a bank account, and arrange all the necessary insurances.
Schools and day care
Introduce you to (international) schools, au pairs, nannies, or after school care. Inform you about the various language courses available in the area.
Mobility, health, and culture
Buy, lease or import a car, introduce you to sports clubs, doctors and dentist, provide information about entertainment, health system, and culture.
